The Friday Five

Five things I'm grateful for this week.

Whether it's part of your journaling practise or just something you reflect on during an evening stroll, I think it's really important to ruminate regularly on the things that you're grateful for in life. I'm not a religious or spiritual person, but I do believe in putting out into the universe what you want to receive back from it. To me, graciousness equals love and warmth, and anyone who believes in the power of three will know that this will come back to you threefold. So put positivity out into the world, and you'll receive it back in abundance.

I don't limit myself in what I feel grateful for, no matter how silly it might seem at first. If watching a bumblebee flit from dandelion to dandelion in the backyard gave me a moment of calm on an otherwise busy day, then I allow myself to feel gratitude for that bee. Maybe hitting lots of red lights while running errands meant I got to finish listening to my podcast episode. Whatever it might be, whether a person, place, or thing, if it brought me joy, calm, clarity, or perspective in a positive way, then I make sure I extend gratitude toward it.

Every Friday I'll post five things from the week that I'm grateful for, and I encourage you to do the same. I like written records so that I can go back to them when I'm in a tough spot and remind myself of the good in life. Try keeping a notebook or journal full of gratitude lists and see where the practise takes you!

The Friday Five

  1. The opportunity to make new choices. No matter how difficult, I'm so privileged to be presented with opportunities for growth and positive change.

  2. Past mistakes that have allowed me to learn and grow, preparing me for my present circumstances.

  3. Coffee.

  4. Pumpkin scones.

  5. My cousin for teaching me how to knit, which is my favourite way to meditate and wind-down at the end of the day.
